Admissions Welcome We are so glad that you are interested in learning more about The Riverside School. We look forward to learning about your child, helping you get a feel for our school, and answering all your questions. The application/enrollment process is relatively simple.  - A visit to our school: Your child will get a chance to see and feel what it is like to spend a day here and we will get to learn more about what he/she is like as a student in class. - A complete application: The application should be completed and submitted with a $30 nonrefundable application fee payable to The Riverside School. - A conversation with the Head. - A faculty review: Our team of faculty is our admission committee. We consider the written application, a school visit, records from your current school and how well we will be able to meet the needs of your child. We want to ensure that all students accepted will be successful in our community. - Once your child is accepted you will receive an acceptance letter with a request for a $500 deposit and a contract. Simply sign the contract and return it with your check for $500 before the deadline. Applications can be obtained by: - downloading them here at http://www.trsweb.org/Admissions/Application.pdf - calling the school at 802-626-8552 - or via email theriversideschool@charter.net FINANCING A RIVERSIDE EDUCATION TUITION Tuition for the school 2009-2010 year has been set by the Board of Trustees at $11,000 for grades 2-5 and $11,500 for grades 6-8. A $500 credit will be given for each additional sibling. Tuition is unconditionally non-refundable. Tuition covers the professional staffing costs of academic, enrichment, athletic, elective classes, transportation, and the first copy (one per student) of the School Assignment Book. ADDITIONAL FEES Additional fees accrue and will be billed to the school store account. These fees include items such as: Wednesday pizza, school store supplies, and books. School store bills are mailed at regular intervals, however parents may request one from the Business Manager at any time. TUITION PAYMENT DATES Tuition is due in three installments. The non-refundable deposit of $500 is due with the signed contract on April 1, or, for new students, within ten business days of acceptance. This payment assures the student of a position in the school for the coming school year and must be paid on or before the due date. The second payment equal to 60% of the remaining balance is due on August 1. The third payment or the 40% balance is due on December 1. CREDIT CARDS Riverside accepts credit card payments. A 3% surcharge will be added to cover the cost to the school. TOWN TUITION Some Vermont towns pay tuition for children to attend Riverside.  If this option is available, the parent(s) are responsible to make the arrangements with the town and ensure that tuition payments are received by each scheduled payment date. If the town refuses to pay any part of a child’s tuition, the parents are responsible for paying the balance. Sending Towns – Several of the neighboring towns provide school choice if no public school option is available in their town.  Below is a list of the towns, what grades they provide school choice and how much they will contribute toward your child’s education. Town Grades Tuition Paid by Town Granby K – 12 11,000/11,500 Guildhall 7 – 12 11,500 Kirby K - 12 10,583/11,500 Maidstone K - 12 10,583/11,500 Peacham 7 – 12 11,500 Victory K – 12 10,583/11,500 Westmore K – 12 10,583/11,500 FINANCIAL AID Financial aid is granted on a case by case basis dependent on need.  However, the amount shall never exceed 50% of the parent’s responsibility.  PAYMENT PLAN A monthly payment plan of direct deposits for tuition is available with a nominal interest charge.  Arrangements may be made through the Business Manager. Tuition may be paid in full before the end of the plan.
