Joel Gilbert grew up in the Adirondacks. He attended Cornell University where he studied to be a veterinarian. After taking a leave of absence from Cornell to work with kids, he went back to Cornell with a new focus on teaching. He graduated in 2001. After teaching science at an alternative high school in upstate New York for two years, Joel came to Vermont and the Riverside school.
Joel has a passion for all aspects of science as well as basketball and chess. He lives in Burke with his wife and two kids.
